Bike to Wherever Day is this Thursday |
Bike to Wherever Day is the Bay Area’s big annual celebration of biking, and it is happening this Thursday, May 14. Whether you are riding to work, school, BART, errands, or just around town for fun, please pledge to ride and help show how many people want safe, welcoming places to bike.
There will be Energizer Stations all around the Bay Area with snacks, giveaways, encouragement, and Bike to Wherever Day bags while supplies last. Check the Bike East Bay map to find a station near your route, and invite a friend, neighbor, or family member to ride too. |

Walnut Creek city is arranging a local morning Energizer Station at South Broadway and Newell Avenue near Whole Foods on Thursday, May 14, from 7:30 to 10:00 AM. Stop by on your way to work, school, BART, errands, or wherever else you are headed.
The station will have snacks, goodies, and the Bay Area’s commemorative Bike to Wherever Day bags while supplies last. This station is organized by the City of Walnut Creek, and it is a great chance to chat with the city employees! You can hear about walking and biking improvements happening and ask questions. |
Pedal Palooza Bike Rodeo at Civic Park |
Thursday afternoon, join us for Pedal Palooza, a free all-ages Bike Rodeo at the back field of Civic Park on Thursday, May 14, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
Kids, families, and community members can practice bike skills, try an obstacle course, learn bike safety, meet local vendors, and enjoy giveaways. Bike rodeos are a fun, low-pressure way for young riders to build confidence, and everyone is welcome to stop by. |
Walnut Creek recognizes May as Bike Month |
Walk Bike Walnut Creek was proud to join Bike East Bay at the Walnut Creek City Council meeting to receive the city’s May is Bike Month proclamation. The proclamation is a small but meaningful way to recognize that biking matters in Walnut Creek and that safer, more connected streets benefit everyone.
We are excited to keep showing up, building relationships, and helping more people see biking and walking as normal, practical, joyful parts of life in Walnut Creek. |
Monthly bike rides continue June 2, |
Our first monthly bike ride was a success, with 9 adults and 10 kids showing up. As a reminder, we ride together on the first Tuesday of each month. The next ride is Tuesday, June 2. We meet at the back field of Civic Park at 5:15 PM and roll out at 5:30 PM.
These are relaxed, family-friendly rides from Civic Park to Heather Farm using the Iron Horse Trail and Canal Trail. Kids who are comfortable riding on the trail can ride their own bikes, and smaller kids can come along on an adult’s bike, cargo bike, trailer, or child seat. We picnic and hang out at Heather Farm for a couple of hours, then ride back together. |

The Walnut Creek Art & Wine Festival is coming up Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, at Civic Park. There will be art, food, music, wine, beer, and family activities throughout the weekend.
Ride there if you can. Volunteers from Bike Concord will be running a free, supervised bike valet, so you can skip the parking hassle and enjoy the festival without worrying about your bike. |
