World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

Sunday, November 15, 2026
4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
San Francisco City Hall (gather on the plaza across the street)

Every year on the third Sunday of November, people around the world stop to remember everyone killed or hurt on the roads, and to ask that the next deaths be prevented rather than accepted.

The nearest observance this year is in San Francisco, hosted by Bay Area Families for Safe Streets and Walk San Francisco. It is for anyone who has lost someone or been hurt in a crash, and for anyone who wants to stand with them.

The evening

  • 4:30 PM: arrive and gather on the plaza across from City Hall
  • 5:00 PM: speakers
  • 5:20 PM: walk together to the City Hall steps
  • 5:30 PM: vigil, stories and a blessing, until 6:00 PM

Getting there from Walnut Creek

BART to Civic Center/UN Plaza, then a short walk to City Hall.

There is no Contra Costa observance this year. If you would like to help hold one here next November, let us know.
