Third-Saturday Bakery Morning

A neighborhood gathering at the bakery on First Avenue, held on the third Saturday of the month. Coffee, pastries, and neighbors.

We are listing it because it makes a genuinely good short ride. It sits just off the Canal Trail, so from most of central Walnut Creek you can get almost the whole way on paved path instead of in traffic. From Civic Park it is roughly a couple of miles, flat the entire way.

That makes it a low-stress destination if you have been looking for somewhere easy to ride with kids: a real place to go, a treat at the end, and no busy roads to negotiate on the way.

Come early

It runs until noon, but some of it winds down before then. Aim for the earlier end of the morning rather than the last half hour.
